Lacoste shoes are, next to shirts, the most famous products of the French brand and for over thirty years they have been constantly delighting fans of a relaxed, sporty lifestyle around the world.
The brand itself, founded by Rene Lacoste - one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and Andre Gillier, owner of a French cotton factory, started in 1939 with the production of white shirts with which Lacoste played at international tournaments. In order to protect themselves against illegal imitations, they placed a trademark on the products, which also made them immediately recognizable - Rene Lacoste's sporting nickname was "Le Crocodile" - the crocodile. By 1939, the factory was already producing over 300,000 shirts for sale annually.
Later there were shorts, perfume and glasses. In the 1980s, today's famous Lacoste shoes were created. Sneakers, espadrilles, sandals and flip-flops, later also galoshes and boots immediately gained the cult status, and the company designed more and more models every year. The most famous of them - the ones with tiny stripes - quickly became the favorite shoes of athletes after hours. In recent years, the smooth ones on the thick sole that can be worn by both women and men have triumphed.
